The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University hosts a ten-week summer research experience program for undergraduate students. The program is highly interdisciplinary and involves research in the area of micro- and nano-material science and technology. The program involves various academic departments such as Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Polymer and Fiber Engineering, Physics, and Biosystems Engineering.

Tyler Gunn Wins Second Place at National AIChE Competition
Tyler Gunn, mid-America region representative from the University of Iowa, won second place in the national AIChE undergraduate research competition for his podium presentation based on his REU program research conducted at Auburn under the direction of Dr. Chris Roberts and Dr. Juncheng Liu. He competed against 8 other finalists from across the country. In order to qualify for the national competition, Gunn previously won overall conference first place in the mid-America regional podium competition.
Khristine Pizarro Wins the 2008 Sigma Xi 1st Place Undergraduate Research Presentation Award at the Fifth Annual Auburn University Undergraduate Research Symposium for her talk on the Synthesis and Alignment of Silver Nanorods. Khristine's REU program advisor was Dr. Virginia Davis.
