Hector Galicia has been selected to receive a CAST Student Travel Grant from the Computing and Systems Technology division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. CAST awards up to 10 student travel grants annually to enable outstanding graduate students to present the results of their research at the annual AIChE meeting.

The award recipients are selected from a highly competitive group of applicants from the very top research groups in the systems engineering field. Applicants were reviewed by an expert panel from academia, industry, and national labs.

Dr. Jin Wang, Hector's advisor, said "I am very proud of Hector for wining this award. I am most impressed with the fact that the other four winners of this award are from very prestigious chemical engineering programs: MIT, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Carnegie-Mellon and McMaster University. It is a well-deserved recognition to Hector and his research."

Hector's selection for the award qualifies him to compete for the Best Presentation Award to be given by the CAST directors.
