Structures Laboratory

This lab is equipped with a large loading frame and hydraulic loading system for tensile, compression, and fatigue testing (see Figs. 9 and 10). For vibration tests, the lab includes two shakers, one with a 10 to 1,000 hertz frequency range and force capacity of up to 2,000 lbs and one with a 0 to 20,000 hertz frequency range and a force capacity of up to 100 lbs.

Facilities are also available for strain gage and dynamic measurements. Experimental data is processed using a system-4000 data-acquisition, data-reduction system. In addition, the lab has a fully integrated modal analysis package, computer, and dual channel FFT analyzer with structural graphics and data acquisition capabilities.
