Grads volunteer for storm cleanup

Last year, the university’s volunteer spirit was put into action after a series of April tornados slammed the state. Auburn University received national attention for community service, being named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, which recognizes colleges and universities for their dedication to civic engagement, service learning and volunteering.

Haskell Beckham was recently named the department’s 2011 outstanding alumnus. Morris T. Collins Jr. was named the department’s 2010 outstanding alumnus.

Whittington presents seminar on polymer engineering for tissue repair

Abby Whittington, faculty member in Virginia Tech’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering, recently spoke on using natural polymers in the design of drug delivery systems and tissue engineering scaffolds, as well as the efficiency of tissue regeneration.
