Sponsor Appreciation Day

This year the Formula team held the first of what we hope will be an annual tradition, our 2006 Sponsor Appreciation Day.  We wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who contributed to the team last year.  We had a very successful and fun day.  Team alum and donor Gilbert Fournelle, our contacts from Grainger, Royal Purple, and the whole crew from Willie’s Cycle Salvage were in attendance.  They were first treated to an extensive shop tour and overview of our cars.  They saw our new hot shop, office, assembly shop, and machine shop.  They were also given detailed accounts of all of the three cars that are currently kept in our shop and were able to ask questions about those.  After the tour everyone was treated to a delicious lunch from Mike and Ed’s, a premier location for Southern barbeque in Auburn.  After lunch was the featured event of the day.  Everyone got to drive!

The team set up a competition-style autocross course at our usual testing location in the spacious C-zone parking lot.  We had both the 2003 and 2006 cars out ready for action. Everyone got to drive and, judging by their reactions, had a fantastic time.

We are grateful to all of our sponsors for making this fantastic project possible and we are glad that we have finally gotten a chance to say thank you properly.  We hope to see even more of our sponsors next year.
