Grainger
Sponsor Visit
The Formula team has
made a visit to yet another sponsor. This time the lucky winner is
W.W. Grainger, Inc. Grainger is an industrial supply store that
carries everything from hand soap to screw drivers to massive tool
chests and storage cabinets. They have products for the backyard
garage as well as the larger manufacturing plant. Every year the
Grainger outlet in Columbus, Georgia gives our team a sizeable free
order from their catalog. We use this order to keep our shop
stocked with various consumables that we use on a regular basis and
also to update our tool supply. To give our thanks for their
unwavering generosity Ben took the 06 car out to their store to let
the employees get a good look. There he met Brian Brock, the store
manager, and several other hardworking folks. Everybody was really
interested in the car and asked lots of questions. They even set
the car up in the store for a small photo-op, which was fun.
Prior to
taking the car to Grainger, Ben had the opportunity to stop off at Northside High School in Columbus to talk about the car and the
Formula SAE program to a few of the students. Mr. Brock’s daughter
attended Northside so he put Ben in contact with Dr. Edmondson and
set up a small assembly. Northside has prominent engineering and
business magnet programs, so these kids were very sharp. Several of
them seemed very excited and Ben had his hands full trying to answer
all of their questions.
All in all it was neat trip. The
Formula team is always looking to cultivate it’s relationships with
it’s sponsors as well as the rest of the community. We hope to
continue to work with Grainger and with Northside High in the coming
year. Thanks guys!
