Alabama Bolt and Industrial Specialty Company Visit

For the second sponsor visit of the year Jason and Ben took the 06 car out to Alabama Bolt and Industrial Specialty Company, Inc, both in Montgomery.  Charlie Ferguson and the gang at AL Bolt are always fun to talk to and are always interested in the car.  After a little racing banter a few t-shirts were handed out and Ben and Jason pulled a few general shop supplies off the shelves of the store.  Charlie is always willing to help out the Formula team in any way he can.  Having stockpiled some cleaning supplies and Loctite threadlocker and after giving Charlie the team’s bolt list for the year Jason and Ben left AL Bolt and headed off to ISCI.

This is the first time in recent memory that we have visited ISCI and it proved to be an extremely entertaining trip.  The guys met Darrell Dapprich, who took them on a tour of the entire facility.  The machine shop is extremely capable holding multiple large CNC machines, including one with a pallet changer that allows the machine to run one job while the operator sets up the next.  They have a rather large anodizing facility, of course.  Mike Carter gave Jason and Ben a good overview of how the process works, which was really interesting to hear.  ISCI also has a full engineering staff, capable of designing components and systems to the needs of their clients, a welder, and paint shop.

We would like to thank Alabama Bolt and ISCI for their help.  Without people like you our cars would not be what they are.  We hope that you had fun seeing the car and we hope to continue working with you.  Thanks guys!
