New Truck

This is our BRAND NEW TRUCK!!!  We’re really excited about this.  It’s taken almost half a year and lots of hard work from several of our members, but it’s finally here.  In early 2006 we petitioned the Auburn University Concessions Board for $20,000 to put towards a new tow vehicle.  That request was granted.  We had planned to purchase a lightly used truck, but thanks to the Ginn College of Engineering and Mr. Warren Fleming, a benefactor of the college, we were able to acquire a brand new one.  Mr. Fleming donated two brand new Toyota trucks (one Tundra and a smaller Tacoma) to the college.  Dr. Benefield, the Dean of Engineering, then agreed to allow us to trade in the Tacoma to go towards our truck.  That gave us just enough to purchase this beauty.

It’s a 2006 Ford F-350 XL Super Duty with the PowerStroke V8 Turbo Diesel engine.  Outfitted with a full sized crew cab, service bed, tow package, four-wheel drive, and a monstrous 40-gallon gas tank we know this beast will never let us down.

In the past we’ve towed our race trailer with everything from an Econoline 15-passenger van to rental trucks, so this truck will make all of our trips to Detroit and the new venue in California both safer and more efficient.  And, of course, it will be much more fun to drive.

Now all we have to do is keep her away from Baja  (=
