April 19 – 22, 2009 - Five ITE student chapter members attended this year’s Southern District ITE meeting in Birmingham. Four of those members, Alex Shoemaker, Bill Minor, Kevin Pugh-Sutton, and Elliot Devore competed in the Traffic Bowl. In addition, Alex Shoemaker won the Graduate Student Paper Competition for his research and paper entitled: “Effects of Speed Tables on Vehicle-Pedestrian Interactions and Safety Impacts on A College Campus Street”. Finally, the Auburn University Student Chapter was runner up to Clemson for the 2008 Best Student Chapter in ITE's Southern District, based on the annual reports submitted.

April 15 and 16, 2009 - Three ITE members, Alex Shoemaker, Erica Thomas, and Jennifer Flowers, continued the chapter’s outreach program where student introduce basic concepts of Civil and Traffic Engineering to local 5th graders at Olgetree Elementary School.
