Project NOVA II Rocket

For the 2018-19 USLI competition, the Auburn University Student Launch team has developed an all-new rocket design as a part of "Project NOVA II." This new design utilizes components from past vehicles, as well as completely new features, such as our two unique payload systems: the soil sampling rover and embedded systems drag plates.

The rocket will be manufactured using a number of novel methods which set us apart from every other competitor. The core of the tube will consist of an open-architecture composite structure (O-ACS) made of carbon fiber cord pregs. The exterior surface will be composed of a fiberglass and foam overwrap. Various external and internal components will be made from carbon fiber, fiberglass, and 3D printed material, using Auburn University's various 3D printers.
