Pre-Engineering

All undergraduates are classified as pre-engineering until they complete pre-requisites that include mathematics and physics courses. During this period, students are advised by the Engineering Student Services.

All undergraduate students interested in Electrical and Computer Engineering are encouraged to take the introductory electrical engineering course at Auburn, ENGR-1110. Its purpose is to acquaint freshmen with fundamental engineering principles, technical writing and presentation skills, safety and ethics, and other essentials while they work in teams on a design project.

Students design and construct a small vehicle (made only using LEGO parts and basic electrical components) that can navigate its way around a track using instructions from a computer's sound card. The goal is to drive around the track in the shortest period of time, with bonus points awarded for automating the car's drive around the track with no manual input.

Graduate Level

Graduate offerings include Master of Science (thesis), Master of Electrical Engineering (non-thesis), as well as Doctor of Philosophy degrees in these areas: digital systems, digital signal processing and communications, electromagnetics modeling and analysis, control systems, power systems, microelectronics, biomedical research and image processing.
