Q: What are the registration fees for each student and school?
A: The fees for registration are $55 for each student plus a $200 per school registration fee.

Q:What is the conference theme?
A: The theme is "Engineering Through the Ages".

Q: At the registration link, whose name and information should go in the spaces that are above the members’ list?
A: The information that goes above the member list is whomever you would like the mail to go to. This could be you chapter president, secretary, etc.

Q: Is there already a block of rooms at the two hotels listed on the website that we are supposed to use or is it up to the individual organizations to create a block of rooms for each school for the conference?
A: Some rooms have been blocked off at the hotels. If you mention that you are with the ASCE Student Conference, they will give you the discounted rate for the conference. It is up to each school to negotiate where the rooms for that school will be located.

Q: How may we order extra meal tickets for parents or other guests?
A:

2. There will be a table set-up at each of the meals as well as the registration table on Thursday for meal ticket sales.

Q: How much are meal tickets for guests?
A:
A lunch ticket may be purchased for $15 (covers lunch both days). The banquet ticket may be purchased for $25.

Concrete Beam:

Q: As stated in 4.9 “No Fibers” Does this include fiber materials such as plant material, recycled textiles and wood waste (that meets grading requirements)?
A: Plant material, recycled textiels, and wood waste all contain fiber and are therefore not permissible materials.

Q: Are Silica Fumes allowed? (ASTM C 494 allows pozzolans)
A: No. Silica fume cannot be used as it is not specifically approved in Section 4.0 of the Concrete Beam Competition rules.

Q: As stated in 3.2, a 40-mm diameter hole with a centerline of at least 19-3/4 inches is to be cast/drilled into the beam. However, there is no mention of where the hole can or cannot be located. Is there a specific location of where the hole has to be within the beam?
A: Each team can locate the hole where they choose; however, the hole can only be open at the ends of the beam. A groove or slot on a beam surface will not meet this criteria as these features are open on top and not just at the ends of the beam.

A: Solution with the lowest copper concentration will be ranked the best. In the event one or more copper concentrations are the same (+/- 10 % of another), the solution with the lowest conductivity will be ranked the best.
