Malcolm Crocker, University Professor of mechanical engineering, is editor-in-chief of the four-volume Encyclopedia of Acoustics, published by John Wiley & Sons Inc., of New York.
The encyclopedia set, which sells for $475, contains more than 2,000 pages of information on every aspect of acoustical technology. Contributing writers are considered to be among the world's most renowned experts in the field of acoustics.
"Although there are several excellent textbooks on different aspects of acoustics theory, no one book gives a comprehensive treatment," Crocker said.
Through its 18 parts - each devoted to different areas of acoustics -
Crocker adds that the encyclopedia is aimed at providing a comprehensive
single-source compilation of information on acoustical science.
