The most recent addition to the Department of Industrial and Systems
Engineering faculty is Harriet Black Nembhard, who holds
the doctorate in industrial and operations engineering
from the University of Michigan.
Nembhard earned a bachelor's degree in management from
Claremont McKenna College and a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Arizona State University, both in 1990. She received her doctorate in 1994.
Her research emphases include formulating and solving models for
continuous manufacturing systems to address control, production, quality,
and economic concerns that arise while systems are in start-up or transient
phases. She is working with Russell Corp. of Alexander City, Ala., and
Interface Flooring Systems of LaGrange, Ga., in these areas.
