Tyler Compher, ’19 chemical engineering, has been named the 2019 outstanding student for the chemical engineering program. He plans to use his training to pursue his passion for medicine.

“I am from Birmingham and had always been an Auburn fan growing up. Once I began looking at colleges and saw the quality of Auburn’s engineering school, I decided to attend Auburn. I have always been fascinated with the human body and how it operates like a machine. I chose chemical engineering with a specialty in biomedical engineering because it would bridge the gap between my interest in medicine and my enjoyment for science and math. After graduation I will be attending medical school at UAB. Auburn has instilled a work ethic in me and a desire to learn and better myself that I hope will translate to the study of medicine. It is a great place to learn and to grow. The faculty are knowledgeable and helpful and have gone out of their way to help me achieve my goals.”
