NASA engineer holding seminar on multidisciplinary challenges

Ivatury S. Raju, technical fellow for structures at the NASA Engineering and Safety Center, will hold a seminar at Auburn University on Friday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m. in 1409 Wiggins Hall. The seminar is free to attend and open to the public. 

Raju’s talk is titled “Real-life problems are multidisciplinary.” It will examine two instances of mechanical problems in NASA’s space shuttles and discuss how multidisciplinary teams identified the issues and fixed them.

Raju earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from India’s Andhra University, master’s and doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering from the Indian Institute of Science and a master’s degree in engineering administration from the George Washington University. His career at NASA has spanned more than 40 years. In his current role, Raju focuses on technical problems and safe operations of space shuttles, programs involving the International Space Station, the Constellation Program’s Ares rockets and more.
