Andrew Eiland, a graduate research assistant in Auburn University’s Department of Civil Engineering, has been selected to receive the American Concrete Institute’s Richard N. White Student Fellowship award for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Eiland will earn a master’s degree in 2016 in structural engineering and is conducting research under Anton Schindler, professor of civil engineering and director of Auburn’s Highway Research Center. Eiland’s work involves developing specifications for mass concrete construction for the Alabama Department of Transportation. The conditions include establishing size designation and temperature control requirements for mass concrete elements, as well as providing guidance for the implementation of a temperature control plan in mass concrete construction.

A scholar-athlete, Eiland pitched for the University of Alabama at Huntsville baseball team, earning the title Gulf South Conference (GSC) Honor Roll recipient and was selected as a GSC All-Academic honoree during his senior year in 2014.
