Sabahattin Ozden and Shahab Derhami, doctoral students in Auburn University's Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, were recently awarded scholarships from the Material Handling Education Foundation Inc. (MHEFI).

Ozden, who was awarded $4,000 and the Rack Manufacturers Institute-John Nofsinger Honor Scholarship, is researching designs for order picking warehouses with faculty members Kevin Gue and Alice Smith. Derhami, who was awarded $3,000 and the Storage Equipment Manufacturers Honor Scholarship, is researching multi-load automated guide vehicles.
MHEFI was established in 1976 and is an independent, charitable organization that supports industrial and systems engineering students. MHEFI has awarded 28 scholarships totaling $86,750 this year.
