Sarah Zaranek, senior application engineer for MathWorks, will present “Seminar on Parallel Computing with MATLAB” on Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. in 1113 Shelby Center. Her seminar is sponsored by Auburn University’s Engineering Network Services.
Zaranek will demonstrate how to take advantage of common trends in computer hardware, from multiprocessor machines to computer clusters. She will talk on performing parallel and distributed computing in MATLAB to boost execution speed on computationally intensive problems, including how to handle larger data sets. Zaranek will also highlight add-on tools that offer a built-in ability to take advantage of parallel computing resources without requiring extra coding. She will introduce parallel processing constructs, such as parallel for-loops, distributed arrays and message-passing functions. Faculty, staff and graduate students interested in parallel and high-performance computing are encouraged to attend.
