Auburn alumnus Hal Pennington ’59 was recently selected as the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering’s alumnus of the year. An industrial management graduate, Pennington is chairman of Genesco Inc. He joined the organization in 1961 and has worked in a number of departments, including footwear operations, materials management, engineering, distribution and information systems. In 1998, Pennington was named senior vice president and assumed responsibility for all Genesco wholesale operations, including Johnston and Murphy and Dockers Footwear.
Pennington serves as a director of the Nashville-based Pinnacle Financial Partners. He is also involved in his community through the board of trustees for Cheekwood Art Gardens and the Nashville Symphony Association. He serves several nonprofit organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, United Way of Metropolitan Nashville and the Nashville Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife Peggy live in Brentwood, Tenn.
