ISE faculty member selected for ASSE research committee

Robert Thomas, faculty member in Auburn University's Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, has been selected to serve on the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation Research Committee, which supports research grants to advance the prevention of injury and illness. The committee is responsible for developing, selecting, evaluating and promoting research proposals that address key safety and health issues, while maintaining a program for soliciting research grants, evaluating research topics and recommending research projects to trustees.

Thomas joined the Auburn faculty in 1988. He holds a bachelor's degree from Georgia Tech and master's and doctoral degrees from Texas A&M University, all in industrial engineering. His research interests include general occupational safety and ergonomics, occupational biomechanics, human factors engineering and workplace and work area design.
