Kandace Ballard, graduate student in Auburn University's Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, has received the best graduate paper award for her paper, "Stock Control Policies for Emergency Hurricane Supplies." The award was presented at the University of Southern Mississippi's October conference, "Preparing for the Next Katrina: Putting Community Resilience Research into Action," which focused on community resilience and preparation for a major Gulf Coast hurricane. Former faculty member Emmett Lodree collaborated with Ballard on the winning paper. In addition to her award, Ballard received a $200 travel stipend to attend the conference.
