Prabhakar Clement, Arthur H. Feagin Professor in Auburn University's Department of Civil Engineering, was recently selected to become an associate editor of Ground Water, a journal of the National Ground Water Association (NGWA). As an associate editor, Clement will review manuscripts and assist the editor-in-chief with reviewing comments and making final decisions.
Ground Water is the leading international journal that focuses exclusively on the study of ground water. Since its inception in 1963, the journal has published a variety of articles on topics such as ground water flow, well hydraulics, hydrogeochemistry, contaminant hydrogeology, the application of geophysics and the history of ground water hydrology.
The NGWA is dedicated to advancing ground water knowledge and advocating the responsible development, management and use of water. The organization works to create opportunities for education, outreach, advocacy and community, as well as to develop and improve professional practices.
Clement joined the Auburn Engineering faculty in 2002. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in physics from Madras University and Madurai University, respectively, both located in India. He also holds a master's degree in environmental science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay and received his doctorate in civil engineering from Auburn in 1993. Before returning to Auburn as a faculty member, Clement worked at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and at the University of Western Australia. Clement's research interests include optimization of environmental systems, remediation design and numerical modeling of environmental transport processes.
