Students participating in Auburn University's Interdisciplinary Studies for Sensor and Biosensor Development Program will make their final poster presentations on Thursday, July 30, from 9 - 11 a.m. in the Shelby Center's Lowe Grand Foyer. The program is sponsored by the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) site program of the National Science Foundation and the Awards to Stimulate and Support Undergraduate Research Experiences (ASSURE) program of the Department of Defense.

The students have been working under the direction of mentors from Auburn's departments of Animal Sciences, Poultry Science, Polymer and Fiber Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics, as well as the Materials Research and Education Center. The 10 undergraduate participants from colleges and universities in Arizona, California, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, New York and Pennsylvania will be presenting posters that display a variety of applications for sensors, such as detection of bacteria, DNA and gas molecules.

Members of the Auburn community are invited to attend. For more information, contact Omar Oyarzabal at 334-844-2608, oyarzoa@auburn.edu, or Jeff Fergus at 334-844-3405, jwfergus@eng.auburn.edu.
