UAB hospital manager to talk about engineering health care careers

Deborah Flint, hospital business manager in the department of radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital, will discuss various topics and tools for industrial engineers interested in health care careers on Friday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. in 3210 Shelby Center. Her seminar is hosted by Auburn University's Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Flint began her career in the management engineering department at the UAB hospital, where she was a management engineer and then senior management engineer. She was later a named a senior productivity engineer in the financial management department.

Flint is an active member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, where she is serving as the southeast regional vice president until 2010. She is also active in the Society of Health Systems and has served on the organization's board for multiple terms. Flint graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. She later earned her master's degree in business administration from UAB and is a registered professional engineer in Alabama.
