Black and Decker quality manager to discuss Six Sigma business performance

Kavit Antani, quality manager for Black and Decker/DeWalt in Mexico, will discuss Lean and Six Sigma methodologies on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 3:30 p.m. in 3210 Shelby Center. His lecture is hosted by Auburn University's Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Combined Lean and Six Sigma processes provide a methodology that maximizes business performance by achieving the fastest rate of improvement in customer satisfaction, cost, quality, process speed and invested capital. Antani will present an overview of value stream mapping and processes for using Lean and Six Sigma tool kits together. He will also discuss the structure for attaining Six Sigma certification, as well as an overview of training at Black and Decker.

Antani leads a team of 166 members to support quality, Lean, Six Sigma and international standard organization (ISO) functions. He has been with Black and Decker since 2000 and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Antani earned his bachelor's degree in production engineering from the University of Bombay and master's degree in industrial and systems engineering from Auburn.
