Karcher named assistant dean of engineering student services

C. Robert Karcher has been promoted to assistant dean of engineering student services in Auburn University's Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. Karcher has served as the college's director of engineering student services for the past 10 years.

"Bob Karcher has a real vision for recruiting the highest level of engineering students to Auburn University," said Engineering Dean Larry Benefield of the appointment. "He uses creative strategies to enhance our students' experiences at Auburn, and is committed to ongoing quality improvements, in terms of academics, counseling and career direction."

Karcher recently received his doctorate in education from Auburn University. He is a member of Dean Benefield's leadership team and serves as his representative for a variety of activities. He also is a key representative in identifying and building relationships with professional and alumni groups. Karcher also coordinates a non-credit survey course for engineering freshmen designed to introduce them to the various fields of engineering.
