Wanda Lambert, marketing director for Auburn University's Engineering Outreach and Continuing Education program, has been named president of the Engineering Council of Birmingham (ECOB) for 2009. As president, she will take part in producing the ECOB's annual awards banquet, which recognizes leaders in the engineering professional community and raises money for engineering scholarships. Lambert has been an ECOB member for five years, serving as the organization's secretary since 2005.
As marketing director for Engineering Outreach and Continuing Education, Lambert's duties include marketing the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering's Graduate Outreach and Engineering Professional Development programs to business, industry and military, as well as overseeing the design and production of the program's marketing materials. The ECOB, founded in the 1950s, serves to aid high school and college students in their pursuit of engineering education. The council also encourages engineering graduates to consider employment in the Birmingham area. The organization's members represent 15 professional engineering societies in Birmingham, Anniston, Gadsden and Tuscaloosa.
