J. Richard Willis, a doctoral student in civil engineering, was recently selected as a 2008 recipient of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists (AAPT) graduate scholarship. This national scholarship is funded by AAPT to increase the number of scientists and engineers available for careers in the area of asphalt cement or asphalt concrete technology.

Willis earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from Auburn University, as well as a bachelor's degree in physical science from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn., and will earn his doctorate in December 2008.
