Jong Wook Hong
Jong Wook Hong, assistant professor in materials engineering at Auburn University, will give a lecture as part of the Department of Polymer and Fiber Engineering seminar series on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 3 p.m. in Textile Building 104.
Hong received his doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Tokyo, and his master's and bachelor's degrees from Pukyong National University in Korea. He teaches and conducts research in the fields of nanobiotechnology and nano/microfluidic systems for materials processing and biology/medicine applications.
Hong works with the Auburn University Detection and Food Safety (AUDFS) Center and the National Center of Excellence for Research in the Intermodal Transport Environment (RITE). Hong has received research awards from the Japanese Society of Chemical Engineers, Tokyo Branch, and the Young Asian Biochemical Engineers Community (YABEC). He was a Japanese government scholar and junior research associate at the University of Tokyo and the Institute for Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN) in Japan.
