Jeney Zhang, senior in the Department of Chemical Engineering, took top honors Saturday, April 5 at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) 2008 Southern Regional Conference Paper Competition. Zhang took first place overall with her paper, "Bandage Contact Lenses for Antibacterial and Anti-Inflammatory Therapeutics." Zhang co-authored the paper with Mark Byrne, assistant professor in chemical engineering.
Zhang received a $1,250 prize for the award, and she will now represent the southern region at the AIChE Annual Student Conference in Philadelphia in November.
"This is a great accomplishment by Jeney and a great honor for Auburn to get to represent the Southern Region at Nationals," said Steve Duke, faculty advisor for Auburn's AIChE chapter.
