Jeney Zhang, a senior in chemical engineering, was awarded second place in the Food, Pharmaceutical, and Biotechnology Undergraduate Student Poster Competition session at the 2007 American Institute of Chemical Engineer's (AIChE) National Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah. Zhang's research poster was titled, "Extended Release Bandage Contact Lenses for Antibacterial and Anti-Inflammatory Therapeutics."

The meeting featured nearly 700 technical sessions, focusing on growing areas including energy, biotechnology, nanoscale science and engineering, and environmental sustainability. More than 4,000 engineers and scientists and 200 undergraduate participants attended the event.

"We're proud of Jeney and all her hard work on this project. She is an outstanding researcher, has done excellent work, and presents her findings well," said Mark Byrne, Zhang's faculty advisor. "Her award highlights a portion of the exciting biomedical research that is going on in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Auburn University."
