Auburn Engineering partners with Capstone to offer project management classes

Beginning in October, AU's Samuel Ginn College of Engineering and partner Birmingham-based Capstone Development International, LLC, will offer project management continuing education classes at selected locations in Birmingham, Montgomery and Mobile.

"The highest industry qualification for project managers is certification as a Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute," says Wanda Lambert, marketing director of engineering continuing education. "Capstone's Project Management courses are designed to provide managers with the background and skills they need to be successful in today's environment."

Capstone is a leading provider of management development services and a globally registered education provider with the Project Management Institute. Clients include Blue Cross/ Blue Shield and Nokia-Siemens Network. The firm recently developed an expansion of its curriculum for Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, Inc. and is entering the sixth year of teaching Coca-Cola University.

Capstone Development CEO Roy Brewer, nationally recognized expert in project management, will teach the courses. Brewer's resume includes a long career with the U.S. Air Force, during which he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting/business and a master's in management, and gained extensive experience in project management.

According to U.S.News & World Report, Auburn's engineering program ranks 34th in the nation among public universities offering doctoral degrees and is among the top schools in the Southeastern Conference. Its continuing education programs are nationally recognized, and in 2006 served more than 4,500 customers.
