The final graduate seminar for the summer semester in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering will be held on Wednesday, July 25 at 3 p.m. in Dunstan 202. The speaker will be ISE master's degree student Saktihivael Kandaswaamy. Kandaswaamy is advised by Lewis Payton.

The seminar, "Thermal field mapping technique for friction stir process," will cover the mapping of the complete thermal field in friction stir welding, a relatively new process invented in the early 1990s. Although numerous studies have mapped the thermal profile as part of a broad experiment, no one has attempted to map the complete thermal field around the tool during a transient welding event. This seminar explains the technology used at Auburn to conduct such studies and reports on the findings of the first study
