Prathima Agrawal, distinguished professor of electrical and computer engineering and director of the Wireless Engineering Research and Education Center, has received an award from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research for her work on ultra-wide band (UWB) communication networks. Agrawal and Krishna Sivalingam from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, will equally share funding of more than $400,000 over the next three years to design, analyze and implement simple, scalable and energy-efficient protocols for wireless sensor networks that utilize UWB communications.
"I am excited to have the opportunity to work on this research project for the Air Force," said Agrawal. "I look forward to joining with Professor Sivalingam as we further explore the potential of ultra-wide band technology."
