Harry Cullinan, director of the Alabama Center for Paper and Bioresource Engineering at Auburn University, has been re-elected to his fourth consecutive term as president of the Pulp and Paper Education and Research Alliance (PPERA).
"I am grateful for the confidence that my peers have expressed in my ability to continue to lead this unique organization," Cullinan said. "These are challenging times for the forest products industry, as well as times of great opportunity for the industry to work with our universities to develop the technologies to move us toward energy independence through the production of alternative fuels and power from renewable resources".
PPERA is actively engaged in collaborative efforts to secure the future global position of the forest products industry in the United States. Auburn University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Miami University, North Carolina State University, State University of New York, University of Maine, University of Minnesota, University of Washington, University of Wisconsin and Western Michigan University are members of the organization. The alliance of these universities fosters cooperation in education and research in support of the U.S. pulp, paper and bioresource industries.
