The Alabama Space Grant Consortium (ASGC) recently announced its 2006 fellowship and scholarship recipients. The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering enrolls two graduate fellowship winners and four undergraduate scholars.

Space grant graduate fellowships were awarded to Brittany A. Consuegra and Taylor Owens, master's degree students in mechanical engineering. Both were granted a $24,000 research fellowship.

Space grant undergraduate scholarships were awarded to Russell Biser, a senior in physics and electrical engineering; Reva N. Ladd, a senior in aerospace engineering; Dumakas A. Snipes, a senior in industrial and systems engineering; and Steven T. Williams, a junior in aerospace engineering. Each received a $1,000 scholarship.

ASGC includes seven universities, including Alabama A&M University, Auburn University, Tuskegee University, University of Alabama - Birmingham, University of Alabama - Huntsville, University of Alabama - Tuscaloosa and the University of South Alabama, all of which have doctoral programs in space-related fields. NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center is also partner in the consortium, allowing the universities the opportunity to use NASA technologies to further their research programs.
