Rani Muhdi, a graduate student in industrial and systems engineering at Auburn University, has won the 2006 Dr. John Beno Memorial Scholarship, awarded by the Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA). The scholarship includes a $2,000 award and a travel stipend to the 2006 PRIMA annual conference, held June 11-14 in Las Vegas. During the conference Muhdi will be matched with a mentor who will better introduce him to the business of public risk management.

"Rani's application was rated number one by all judges," said Monica Jakobsen, the education and training coordinator for PRIMA. "We look forward to meeting him and introducing him to the field of public risk management in Las Vegas this June."

Muhdi's doctoral focus has been the application of human performance characteristics to evacuation modeling. He is advised by Jerry Davis, assistant professor in industrial and systems engineering.
