Auburn Engineering alumnus Gilbert Fournelle, product development engineer for Ford Motor Company Powertrain Control Systems, will be on campus as the Distinguished Lecturer for the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His discussion, "Emissions Control Strategy," will be held on Tuesday, April 18 at 2 p.m. in 157 Aerospace Building. The discussion will cover legal requirements for emissions certification; three-way catalysts and after-treatment systems; and emissions-optimizing control systems and performance trade-offs. The university community is invited to attend.

While on campus, Fournelle, who earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Auburn in '97 and '99, will visit the university's Formula SAE team. Fournelle was an active member of the team during his time as a student, and continues to be a supporter of the Auburn program.
