E-mail Client

Is the Outlook client the only option connecting to the Exchange/Outlook server?

We want you to use Outlook.  Outlook 2010 for Windows or Outlook 2011 for Mac.  We encourage Mac users to try Outlook 2011, which is included with Microsoft Office 2011.

However, you can use any IMAP compliant email client to connect to the Exchange server and read/compose/send messages - e.g. Thunderbird or Mac Mail. However, it is highly recommended that if you are on a PC you use the Outlook client software because it provides an integrated view of your mail, calendar and university wide address book. Also, both OIT and ENS are more familiar with Outlook client problems. If you are configuring an IMAP client, the IMAP and SMTP servers are the same:

IMAP server: cas.auburn.edu  (port 993) - use TLS/SSL
SMTP server: cas.auburn.edu  (port 587) - use SSL
