Global Engineering Initiatives

Study abroad partnership delegationStudy Abroad Partnership: The President of the Parliament of Navarre, Spain, Elena Torres Miranda, received representatives of the Pamplona Learning Spanish Institute (PLSI) and faculty representatives from the Southeastern Conference Academic Council (SECAC) colleges of engineering.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss a collaborative academic program that includes the PLSI, the Academic Council of the SEC, the municipal government of Pamplona and the state government of Navarre. The program, led by the Auburn University Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, provides SECAC engineering students with an opportunity to spend time in Spain while pursuing their degrees.

The delegration included representatives from three of the 12 SECAC member institutions (from left to right) Juan Jose Lizarbe Baztan, member Parliment of Pamplona; Bob Karcher, Samuel Ginn College of Engineering; Bryan Hill, College of Engineering, the University of Arkansas; Elana Torres Miranda, president of the Parliament of Navarra; Noel Quinlivan, Pamplona Learning Spanish Institute; Nick Conrad, Samuel Ginn College of Engineering; and Tom Lester, dean of the College of Engineering, the University of Kentucky.
