Ram B. Gupta, Alumni professor in Auburn University's Department of Chemical Engineering, has released his third book, "Hydrogen Fuel: Production, Transport and Storage." The 624-page book begins with discussion of the world's dependence on fossil fuels and resulting environmental problems. Gupta and expert contributors focus on a clean, economical alternative to non-renewable energy, suggesting that hydrogen might be the next great fuel source, as it is available worldwide and water is its only byproduct.

H2 Fuel Cover page The book describes aspects of hydrogen fuel, including production from renewable sources such as solar, wind and biomass and non-renewable sources, purification, storage, transport, safety and codes. Gupta examines how to transport hydrogen using pipelines and tankers as well as storing it using compressed tanks, metal hydrides, carbon adsorbents and chemical hydrides.
