It's TIGERs Time!

TIGERs campersIf your child is creative, likes to know how things work and loves math and science, solving problems and working with a team of people then you might want to consider TIGER's Camp (Teams and Individuals Guided by Engineering Resources).  This resident camp, offered by the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, is designed to expose students in grades 7-10 to the world of engineering. This year we will offer two camps: one for rising 7th and 8th graders, the other for rising 9th and 10th graders.

Engineers make the world a better place by designing things that make life easier, safer or that protect the environment.  They are also well paid and report high job satisfaction.  Yet studies show that middle school students know very little about careers in engineering.  TIGERs Camp is designed to bridge this information gap.

Camp activities include workshops, tours and lectures guided by engineers and engineering students who will answer questions about what courses students need to take in middle and high school to prepare them for success in college and a fulfilling career in engineering.  Students will also participate in a number of hands-on activities in a variety of engineering disciplines.
Students will reside in air conditioned residence halls and dine in campus cafeterias, with 24-hour supervision by experienced counselors. The camp will be conducted by faculty, staff and students from the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, ensuring that students receive a broad overview of the engineering profession.

Enrollment is limited. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Senior TIGERs for rising 9th and 10th graders will be June 24-29 ($449.00); Junior TIGERs for rising 7th and 8th graders will be July 7-13 ($399.00).
