Hulya Kirkici, associate professor in electrical and computer engineering, has been elected to the administrative vice president position of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers - Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (IEEE-DEIS). The IEEE-DEIS focuses on the study and application of dielectric phenomena and behavior and the development, characterization and application of all electrical insulating materials, as well as the systems utilized in electrical and electronic equipment.
The society is involved in the advancement of the theory and practice of dielectrics
and electrical insulations in electrical and electronics engineering through science,
engineering and education. The administrative vice president is responsible for
the orderly functioning of the society's operational committees including meetings
and conferences, journal and magazine publications, finances, education and scholarships,
and society achievement award and fulfills the duties of the president in his
or her absence or incapacity.
"I'm looking forward to using this opportunity to further research in the areas of dielectrics and insulation," Kirkici says. "It is an honor to have been chosen by my peers for such a prestigious position."
