The Chattahoochee and Auburn sections of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) recently hosted a pinewood derby for interested high school students,
college students and professional engineers. The event was held at the new Shelby
Center for Engineering Technology and prizes were awarded for the first, second
and third place finishes in each division.
The Chattahoochee Derby is an annual event which consists of racing small wooden cars down a tilted track. The cars can be customized by the contestants to improve speed and style. The competition requires a small entry fee and a car kit, which can be purchased at a local hobby store or online.
