Auburn's Zee elected to ASEE Engineering Research Council Board of Directors

Ralph Zee, professor and associate dean for research in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, was recently elected to serve on American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) Engineering Research Council Board of Directors.  Zee is one of two Auburn University faculty members serving on the board; John Mason, Auburn's associate provost and vice president for research, has served as chair of the council since 2008. Zee's term on the board will last until 2012.

Zee currently serves Auburn Engineering by providing support and leadership through innovative research and creative partnerships between academia, industry and government. As associate dean for research, he also coordinates and promotes research in eight academic departments and 11 research centers.
Founded in 1893, ASEE is a nonprofit organization committed to increasing advancements in engineering education and technology. It promotes excellence in research, instruction, public service and practice; exercises worldwide leadership; encourages technical education in society and provides quality products and services to members. ASEE creates policies and programs that improve professional opportunities for engineering faculty members and promote increases in student enrollment in engineering colleges and universities.

The organization also provides important communication links among corporations, government agencies and educational institutions to keep the engineering world connected. Among ASEE's more than 12,000 members are deans, department heads, faculty members, students and government and industry representatives from all engineering disciplines. The organization represents 400 educational institutions and more than 50 corporations.
