Auburn Joins NSF Wireless Research Consortium

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded a $250,000 grant to Auburn University to join a consortium of universities forming Wireless Internet Center for Advanced Technologies (WICAT). Research at the Auburn site will include wireless system design, wireless networking and wireless applications in fields such as cell phones, wireless internet, robotics, intelligent vehicular communications, homeland security, disaster recovery, and space research. AU Engineering to Study Driving While Distracted

An Auburn researcher has received a $90,000 grant from the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute of South Korea to study drivers who are distracted by the increasing number of information technology devices found in today's vehicles. Read more >>

Tennessee Tests Developed Eco-friendly Asphalt

New asphalt being poured in one Middle Tennessee county may look like regular pavement, but state transportation officials say it's cleaner, less harmful to the environment and smells a whole lot better. The Tennessee Department of Transportation has partnered with LoJac Enterprises and Auburn's National Center for Asphalt Technology to test warm-mix asphalt on Old Hillsboro Road in Williamson County. Studying the Way We Teach

N. Hari Narayanan, professor in the Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering, is collaborating with colleagues at the Washington State University and the University of Hawaii to study a novel way of teaching computing concepts to undergraduates, called studio-based instruction. The project is supported by a two-year grant to the three universities from the National Science Foundation, totaling almost $550,000. Read more >>

NSF Grant Helps Improve Reliabliity of Composite Materails

The National Science Foundation has approved a $260,000 collaborative research grant submitted by Hareesh Tippur, Alumni Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Auburn University Samuel Ginn College of Engineering and A.V.
