Glibert and Holland Honored as National Role Models

Juan Gilbert, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering, and Florence Holland, Special Assistant to the Associate Provost for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, were honored in Sept. as National Role Models by Minority Access, Inc. at its 8th National Role Models Conference. The mission of Minority Access, Inc. is to improve health and prosperity by increasing diversity and reducing disparities. Gilbert received the National Researcher Role Model award for distinguishing himself in his respective field by making significant contributions to the field of biomedical research through his work and mentoring of student research. Holland received the National Faculty/Administrator Role Model award for her contributions to increasing the pool of minority biomedical researchers through mentoring and supporting minority students.
