TEXT: Unix System Adminstration Handbook, Third edition, Nemeth, Snyder, Seebass, Hein, Prentice Hall

PREREQUISITE:  COMP 4320

INSTRUCTOR:  W. H. Carlisle carlisle@eng.auburn.edu, 110 Dunstan Hall

OFFICE/HOURS:  MWF 10-11, by appointment or drop-in

GRADING:

            There will be two exams (25% each) and a comprehensive final exam (25%). Homework and project make up the remaining 25% of your grade. Makeup work will be allowed only for excused absences.

EXAMS:

            Exams will be held in class and are currently scheduled in the calendar. The final exam will be given at the time indicated by the University final exam schedule. Material covered on exams will come from reading assignments in the text, lecture topics (which may extend textbook material) and homework.

HOMEWORK:

            Homework assignments will be due as announced for each assignment. No late work will be accepted. If you are unable to complete the entire assignment, hand in what you were able to do. You are expected to do your own work.  You are expected to do your own work. If there are duplicate assignments, then all involved will receive no credit for the homework assignment. The first homework return will contain a posting number.  Thereafter this number will be used to post your homework grades.  Homework grades will be posted on a class web site.  Mistakes in homework grades should be resolved within a week of their return.

ATTENDANCE:

            If your absence from an exam is excused you will be given a makeup exam different from the exam given to the class. If you are passing the course but miss the final, an incomplete grade will be turned in and you are expected to contact me as soon as possible to discuss a makeup final.
