Educational Objectives

Civil engineers conceive, plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain the facilities and systems that serve the basic needs of our society. Auburn University's Department of Civil Engineering seeks to prepare graduates who, after the first few years of their profesional career, have:

• Functioned as effective team members in the evaluation, planning and design, construction, or operation and maintenance of civil infrastructure systems
• Expanded their body of knowledge, matured professionally, and progressed toward licensure as professional engineers
• Assumed leadership roles in their workplace
• Contributed to their profession and communities
• Earned graduate or professional degrees if they elected to pursue additional formal education
